At LG Progress, we partner with councils and public sector organisations to build political and managerial leadership skills and improve services for communities.
With over 20 years’ experience in local government and a trusted network of associates, we support councillors and officers to develop the skills, confidence, and resilience needed to deliver for their communities.
Our training courses, bespoke facilitation, customised and mentoring services offer practical and relevant solutions to the problems local government and the public sector face, with our value for money approach important in these difficult times.
LG Progress was set up by wife and husband team, Liz and Michael Green.
Liz has been a councillor for over 20 years and loves local government with all it does to provide for communities and how it's services are key to every resident and business. We recognise life as a councillor is never easy and over the years Liz has articulated consistently that for a council to provide excellent services, it needs to support its councillors, particularly in leadership skills.
Michael has extensive experience in Political Advice, Policy, Public Affairs and the Charity/Not for Profit/Voluntary Sector. Having worked with a Unitary Authority, a London Borough, the National Association for Local Councils, Local Government Information Unit and a variety of Members of Parliament. Now working in the voluntary sector, he understands that when the council works well, so does the relationship with the voluntary sector.
Together we have a drive to ensure that councillors, from the smallest parish to the largest met, have the skills they need to perform their roles effectively, regardless of their political positioning. The tantalising prospect of the whole of the public and voluntary sector working well and in tandem with local government, can achieve so much for communities, but only if we work together.
We offer a range of courses for councillors and through our partners, for council officers.
We work to keep costs down and provide value for money on all our services.
