Liz was first elected in 2002 to the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames - a London borough.
She has been Council Leader; Leader of the Opposition; Chair of Audit, Governance and Standards; Chair of Planning; Environment portfolio holder; Chair of Health Overview Panel; Chair of Health and Wellbeing Board.
Liz has held positions on the LGA since 2011 including Vice chair of Children and Young People; Deputy chair of Improvement and Innovation Board; Chair of Culture, Tourism and Sport Board.
She is an accredited peer member -undertaking corporate peer challenges and reviews, mentoring and training.
Liz has been training councillors in leadership skills for over 8 years.
Using her cross-party and lived experience, she is able to cover many different topics.
She develops and delivers training and facilitation packages to a wide range of officers and councillors, at all organisational levels.
Michael was key to National Association of Local Councils winning the right to form new parishes.
He led on the work to get parliamentary support and changes to the law, so the most local level of Government could grow.
Brought up in a political house, Michael has been involved in politics all his life.
He campaigned as a key team member in Leeds at Labour's 1997 win, then went on to run a political group office in a unitary authority.
Michael moved into the voluntary sector in 2010, initially in Kingston then across London.
He uses his political knowhow to help voluntary organisations ensure they can get the most out of working with local councils.
