Michael provides a hands on managerial and strategic development style, taking ideas and aspirations towards reality and into projects for the Community and Voluntary Sector. Advising on management options, funding streams, political route maps and strategic direction. Specialising in complicated projects, some which have involved the local authority, Office for Civil Society, large and small Community and Voluntary Groups, local political groups and elected members, architects, facility providers, specialists and communications experts. Examples include: Kingston Community Hub (2013-15), Transforming Kingston Infrastructure, Go Kingston Volunteering (16-18), Kingston Savers (2011-2014 which became part of Surrey Save, the first Credit Union to cover the borough), Kingston Voluntary Action Strategic Review, Apprenticeship Scheme Structure and management, Ride London Volunteering needs (Kingston), Commissioning Consortia Development leading to the Outcomes 2 consortia that ran from 2014-2018, Elected Members (parliamentary and Local Authority) Engagement, Accommodation Clearing House project for local VCS, Skills and Training including liaison with further education providers and numerous other contributions.
I presently manage projects (volunteer services, strategic, business improvement districts, health outcomes). I have managed projects in a variety of London Boroughs and across a range of activities. I operationally managed Groundwork London's Volunteer Services Unit which had eight different commissioned services. During Covid I was seconded to be the management of volunteer resource utilised by the NM+WP PCN during the 2021 Vaccination Hub operational days.
Related skills include acting in a self-employed consultant capacity, self-facilitating and lone responsibility for generating business. Activities included running the Public Affairs unit of a communications company, providing Strategic Reviews and Project Analysis, political campaigns, lobbying, Parliamentary activity, political risk analysis and other related public affairs, local government and community and voluntary sector activity.
